King Salman International Airport: A Cornerstone of Vision 2030

Saudi Arabia is moving ahead with its King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, one of the most ambitious aviation projects in the world. Developed under Vision 2030, the project seeks to transform the Kingdom into a global hub for travel, logistics, and innovation.

Spanning approximately 57 square kilometers, the airport will feature six parallel runways and cutting-edge passenger terminals designed to handle 120 million travelers annually by 2030 — with capacity projected to rise to 185 million by 2050.

Integrating Innovation: AI, AR, and Smart Design

Beyond its size, King Salman International Airport represents a bold experiment in smart travel and digital living. Global design firms, including MC Studios, are pitching futuristic “microliving” concepts that combine artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and digital twin technology.

These innovations aim to create a seamless passenger experience — from AI-guided navigation and personalized services to virtual reality retail and connected smart rooms.

A $30 Billion Bet on the Future of Riyadh

The project is part of a $30 billion investment positioning Riyadh as a top-tier international destination for business, tourism, and global trade. As part of Vision 2030’s diversification agenda, the airport is expected to create thousands of jobs, attract foreign investment, and support the growth of national carrier Riyadh Air.

When complete, King Salman International Airport will rank among the largest and most advanced airports globally, symbolizing Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a future-forward economic powerhouse.
