Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan (Oct 11, 2025) — At least 13 people, including seven police officers and six militants, were killed in a suicide bombing and gun battle at a police training centre in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, late Friday night.
According to police officials, the terror attack in Dera Ismail Khan began when militants rammed an explosives-laden truck into the main gate of the Ratta Kulachi Police Training School, causing a massive explosion that was heard miles away.
Immediately after the truck blast, armed terrorists wearing mixed uniforms stormed the compound and opened indiscriminate fire on security personnel. A five-hour-long gun battle followed between Pakistani security forces and the attackers.
Five-Hour Gun Battle Leaves 13 Dead
Police confirmed that three terrorists were killed in the initial exchange of fire, while three more militants were neutralized during a late-night clearance operation.
Officials also confirmed that seven police officers lost their lives and 13 others sustained injuries in the encounter.
DPO Dera Ismail Khan Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed and RPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar personally supervised the counterterrorism operation.
The assault involved SSG commandos, Al-Burq Force, Elite Force, and local police units, highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Trainees and Staff Safely Evacuated
Over 200 police trainees and instructors present at the centre were safely evacuated to secure locations, according to police sources.
Authorities recovered suicide vests, grenades, assault rifles, and explosives from the dead militants, confirming that the attackers were heavily armed and prepared for a prolonged siege.
Area Cleared, Search Operation Underway
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed that the entire area has been cleared.
A search and clean-up operation is now underway to ensure no remaining threats.
The IGP praised the bravery of the police officers and announced rewards for the personnel who took part in the operation.
